| U16s Shield March 1st
2008 DBFC U16s 2 vs. St. Francis U16s 1 The Belles reached the final of the Shield competition by securing a 2 - 1 win over St Francis, but the Belles were made to work hard. Good chances were had by Pippi Grocott, Jessica Todd, Lauren Jones and Chloe Ranger and with solid defending from Charlotte Ludlam, Nicole Covey and Kat Rosenfeld it took Ranger until second half to open the scoring. Good keeping again from Fay Cooper, and when St Francis scored in a goal mouth scramble 5 minutes from time, extra time looked likely. However, a great run by Ranger, found Gemma Robson (DBFC player of the game) unmarked who scored her first goal and secured a place in the final for the Belles. Gosport U16s 4 vs. DBFC U16s 0 The Belles were second best against the league leaders and even though they held Gosport to 0 0 for 15 minutes the game soon turned against them when Gosport scored three before HT. With strong performances by Fay Cooper, Kat Rosenfeld, Jessica Todd, Lauren Jones, Charly Ludlam (DBFC's player of the match), Chloe Ranger and Gemma Robson the Belles clung on to HT. Second half and the Belles really stepped up their game, forcing great saves from the home keeper, and having several shots cleared off the line, but to no avail. The home team grabbed a fourth but the Belles certainly gave the home team a fight in the second half. Final Score Gosport U16s 4 vs DBFC U16s 0 |
