The Belles remembered this pitch from the last time we played here, small pitch, small goals and absolutely freezing! This time we came with three subs, Sian having her first game of the season and Crispy back in the team again. We were hoping to keep our clean sheet and add to our goal difference so within two minutes of the first whistle Denmead were on the attack and Georgie scored her first goal of the match again. Burridge dug in deep though and were on the attack now, they were a stong side but our defense was too much for them and Harry and Sian worked hard to keep the ball clear form our goal. Because we had three subs we rotated every ten minutes so that every one had a good run out and those that hadn’t had amatch in while got a chance to blow the cobwebbs away. It was good to see Shannon back to her old form again, going in for the tackles and making some really good runs with ball. Georgies passing of the ball seems to be a lot better and she benefits from it a lot too as she is passing the ball so that she can get into a better position to score, and she does 2-0!
This was by no means an easy game, Burridge were quick on the ball but just didn’t seem to have that edge that would of maybe got them a goal. With Harry, Sian and the two Emily’s in defense it was like coming up against a brick wall. Hayley still had some work to do though as the odd ball did break through and she still had to make some really good saves. Harry must have had her weetabix before the match because she collected the ball from a defensive position and then there was no stopping her, she was off, taking the ball nearly the whole length of the pitchbut Burridge managed to get it off her and then she had to make a sprint back down to protect our goal area!
Half time 2-0
The second half started with Crispy and Sian in defense, this may have been Sian’s first game of the season but she hasn’t lost that flare, collecting the ball well in defense and making some good runs. Crispy proved to be force to reckoned with, her strenght and tackling proving an asset. Everybody had a shot at goal including Hayley, who’s goal kick went straight to the hands of the Burridge keeper. Georgie was trying to pass the ball into a lot of our players so that they could get on the score sheet too but it just wasn’t happening. Soon it was down to Georgie again and with lots of passing she got another goal. Burridge worked hard and didn’t get down hearted, they kept on fighting and didn’t make life easy for us. It would seem that with our passing and working much better as a team we had the edge on them and Georgie scored again 4-0.
It wasn’t as cold this time round, the girls all worked really hard again. Emily Bonnar battled on with an ice skating injury to her back, Jess also battled well even though she had an incurable fit of the giggles! Harry managed to play most of the game with her hands on her head (trying to keep her hair in a hair band!), but it was another win and another clean sheet!

Worthies Girls @ DJS, KO 10am
Result: Won 5-0
The Belles didn’t think that this game was going to be a walk in the park, Worthies had some good girls on their team and the Belles were under no illusions. No sooner had the first whistle been blown though and Denmead were on the attack. The girls were passing the ball really well and Nikki was the first to have a shot on goal, they weren’t going to make it that easy for us though and the ball was quickly collected by the Worthie Girls and they were now on the attack, they had a shot at goal which came off the post and was well cleared by Harry. Jess collected the ball mid field and passed down to Georgie who scored her first goal of the game. 1-0 to Denmead. Don’t blink though because before we knew what was going on, Shannon passed a good ball into Georgie and one minute later 2-0 to Denmead.
Worthies weren’t taking this lying down though and they were on the attack again with another lovely shot on goal that was well saved by Hayley. Nikki and Harry were working well together in defense. Shannon came off and Rosie came on who quickily cleared a ball before Worthies could attack again. Rosie then passed a good ball into Georgie who made a good run down the wing and its 3-0 to Denmead.
It was then end to end with both sides having plenty off shots at goal, the half time score 3-0 to Denmead.
The second half started much the same as the first half finished, end to end with plenty off shots on goal and some great saves from Hayley. Worthies had a corner kick which was played straight into the hands of Hayley. Hayley, Nikki and Harry were determined that the ball was not going into our goal and worked well together to keep it that way! Harry may have been a little to determined and Worthies were awarded a free kick, but Harry showed us why she is in defense and kept the ball clear. Worthies had another shot at goal which Hayley saved but they were waiting for the rebound and luckily Hayley had her wits about her and safely collected the ball.
Georgie was off on another run and with a lovely shot it was 4-0.The ball then went out of play and with a throw in from Shannon to Georgie who then passed it back to Shannon, she had a shot at goal which was just too high and it came off the cross bar. There was some more end to end action and both teams were really working hard, both in attack and defense. Then with some lovely passing between Jess, Georgie and Shannon, Shannon had another shot at goal and finally got a goal, 5-0.
Worthies hadn’t given up though and with a fantastic power shot, Hayley was sent Diving across the goal mouth to make a fantastic save. So its another clean sheet for the Belles, great defensive work and some really good passing all makes for another well deserved win.

Testwood Whites @ DJS, KO 10am
Result: Won 7:0
This was our first home game of the season so we were hoping it was going to be a good one.
The Belles kicked off and they were heading straight for the goal area, Testwood’s defence looked to be a bit scrappy in the first five minutes so we tried to take full advantage of this. The ball was being bounced around Testwood’s goal area so much it was hard to keep track of it. Georgie took about three shots at goal within about three minutes but it either went wide or bounced of the post! Jess decided it was her time to try her luck on goal but with the same result both times, post or just wide. There was more bouncing around the goal area then Shannon wanted a shot at goal but it didn’t look like luck was going to be on our side today. Testwood managed to get the ball away and started to make a break up the wing but Harry and Nikki were too good for them and wouldn’t let the ball any where near Hayley. With some good passing from Harry to Rosie, the ball was back in Testwoods goal area again. Shannon and Georgie worked well together and with a determined shot from Georgie the ball finally went in! At last 1-0 to the Belles. Testwood weren’t going to take this lying down though and they went on the attack again. They managed to get passed Harry and Nikki and took a shot on goal but this was collected easily by Hayley.
The next 15 minutes of the first half was frustrating to say the least, we were keeping the ball well but the Belles don’t seem to like playing down hill because the ball just kept rolling away from us. We kept possession of the ball for the majority of the time but it just didn’t want to go our way. The passing of the ball was good but the girls needed to talk to each other more. Shannon and Rosie both had shots at goal and the Testwood keeper was making some good saves.
Half time score Denmead Belles 1 - 0 Testwood Whites.
During half time we had a chat with girls, and lifted their spirits ready for the second half.
We were off again, this time up hill, the girls were talking more and the passing was really good. With a good ball out from Hayley the girls were on the break again. Georgie had another shot at goal but it deflected off one of Testwoods players. Emily took a great corner kick which Jess collected passed to Georgie who had another shot at goal, the keeper punched it out so Emily had a shot, yet again knocked out by the keeper and Harry tried her luck too! It didn’t look like we were ever going to get another goal then Testwood made a break again and woke Hayley up! But our girls were not giving up with some lovely passing from Jess to Shannon and then a lovely ball in to Georgie she shot and at last the ball was in the back of the net again!!! 2- 0 Shannon then took a corner kick which was headed into goal with precision of a pro by Jess! 3-0. About two minutes later Georgie and Shannon were doing their thing again, Georgie passed the ball to Shannon and the angle looked far too tight for a goal. Shannon was meant to pass the ball to Georgie but it had enough curl on it and went straight to the back of the net! 4-0.
Shannon came off for a bit and Jess took over where she left off, passing a ball in to Georgie, 5-0. Hayley was falling asleep in goal again after having nothing to do for best part of the game so Nikki kindly went in goal and gave Hayley a go on pitch. No sooner had she been out of the goal when she passed a good ball onto Shannon and She scored her second 6-0. Testwood weren’t down in the dumps though, they were still enjoying the game, the keeper more than anyone! With only two minutes to go Georgie put a great volley straight into the back of the net again 7-0!
The girls all enjoyed their selves including the opposition, which were one of the nicest teams we played. Players: Georgie (4), Shannon (2), Jessica (1), Harry, Nikki, Hayley, Rosie and Emily.
Opposition Player of the Match : Shannon Chase
Coaches Player of the Match : Jessica Barlett for a Brilliant header!!!

Hedge End Rangers @ Wildern School, KO 10:30am
Result: Drew 2:2
The Under 15’s first league match of the season finally got under way 30 minutes late as the pitch was still being used by another of the Hedge End teams. It was a very hot day and as well as the girls having to deal with the heat, they also had to contend with a few thousand little spiders which took a liking to them, their clothes, their water bottles and just about everything else that stood still for more than a few seconds.
However, they seemed to forget about this once the game was under way and they started off brightly, going close to scoring several times before finally scrambling one into the net after a free kick from Jess. With Hedge End pressing for an equaliser, Hayley was alert and at her best, coming out of her area several times to clear the danger. Harry and Nikki were playing well at the back as well as making some good forward runs, but could do nothing to prevent Hedge End scoring from a corner that was smashed in from close range.
The Belles Midfield had a slightly new look to it, with Jess B. Making her league debut and going close to scoring in the first half. Alongside her was Rosie, getting stuck in and helping out the defence. As usual, Sian was her normal dependable self, getting her head to the ball whenever possible. Unfortunately, the Belles went 2-1 down before half time with another close range shot.
The second half was a fairly even event, although the Hedge End Keeper had to make some good saves to hold on to their lead. Denmead continued to press forward, with Georgie finally getting the equaliser after a persistent run and a dribble round the Keeper. The Belles looked the more likely to sneak a winner but time ran out and they had to settle for a hard fought draw. The girls then used what energy they had left to shake off all the spiders from the gear they had left on the sidelines.
Final score: Hedge End 2, Denmead 2, Spiders 2000
