A well deserved victory, praise not only from Karl, but from the opposing team manager, whose team were out-played. They worked hard in swelltering conditions in defence, midfield and attack, to subdue Winchester, so much so they didn't have any opportunties on goal. All players played their part in this cup final game - "a flawless performance" |

Rose, Abi, Keris It was a cold morning, 1st half started good for Denmead with great passing from Olli, Katelyn and Sharna, however not resulting in a goal. Winchester were very alert and soon hit back, Rose made a save and then Winchester went back for more only to hit the post. It wasn’t long before Denmead had their first corner, which nearly resulted in a goal from Sharna, this was a great save by Winchester. Winchester was straight back up with another shot at goal, but too high, they were not giving up and had another shot straight after scoring a goal. 1 – 0 to Winchester. Winchester were very strong in defence making it difficult for Denmead to get close. Sarah got winded and came off, Katy came on. Denmead were defending most of the time and Winchester continued to kick the ball over most players. Denmead obtained a throw in near the Winchester goal, a good chance to get close to scoring, again the Winchester defence cleared the ball up towards Denmead goal, Abi running back to defend. Corner for Winchester resulted in goal number 2. Again Abi and Keris defending well to avoid any more goals, Denmead seem to be able to get the ball so far from great passing with Sharna, Katelyn and Katie but they were soon closed in by the strong Winchester defence. Winchester were soon pushing up again and another shot at goal was excellently saved by Rose. Sarah came back on in 2nd half, Rose went up front and Keris went in goal. Minutes in, Winchester gained a free kick close to goal, this was cleared by Olli. Another shot at goal was saved by Keris. Katelyn and Sarah were trying their best to create opportunities with their impressive passing and Katelyn had a shot at goal, which was saved by Winchester. Denmead started to make progress and got closer to the Winchester goal, however things got messy and all players started to group together and ball went constantly out of play. Winchester were soon back with shots at goal which were saved by Keris. Rose was defending well and Sarah got in some classic Sarah tackles! More great running and passing from Abi and Katelyn, and Sharna took a free kick for Denmead. Again, ball went out of play for Winchester throw in, more shots at goal which were continually saved by Keris. Overall great play from Denmead with impressive passing. Game ended 2- 0 to Winchester Flyers |
