| League 01/03/2008 Winchester Girls Vs Denmead Belles, Conditions: Cold, Sunny Result: Lost 7:1 Managers Voice: Stephen Hawking We played very well in the first half and surely our strongest team. Imogen in goal, Hannah and Emma in defence, Katie G in midfield, Sharna and Nikita or Katie B in attack. Our defence was solid, abosorbing lots of pressure from the start, then when the opportunity arose we broke quickly and had a number of chance to score. We scored and led 1:0 at half-time a brilliant team effort. The second half though not lacking in effort, became disorganised as I tried to adjust the team to let Imogen play outfield and goal-keeping covered by Hannah and Katie B. It didn't work, we lost our shape and gave Winchester too much space. The highlights for todays game concentrate on the first half, but I'd like to thank Hannah and Katie B who took a turn in goal in the 2nd. This wasn't easy for them, but we play as a team and their individual efforts were appreciated by the team, myself and the Parents. Well Done both of you for covering this difficult position. Highlights: Imogen (captain) very good in goal, handling and kicking were good. Hannah and Emma defended very well, making tackles and blocks. Emma continued this form in the 2nd half. Nikita and Katie B were sharing attacking roles and never lacked pace. Nikita 'show-boated' with some very neat step-overs and control. Katie B making some excellent runs forward. Katie G, who had a more attacking role relished the chance to go forward. She scored an excellent goal and had a number of chances that didn't quite fall for her - Well Done. Sharna made some excellent tackles, throughout the game. She had a chance to score that went just wide and never stopped running. A well deserved Player of the Week. I'm sure our luck will change, keep up the good work and effort. A special mention for Skye, who had a bad fall from her horse and hurt her arm. The team, myself and Parents wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to your return. |
