car trouble turned up just on the start whistle, no goalie for first 10 minutes

A fast start on this wet afternoon, two players
short and therefore no subs. The girls know what they had to do. With only 10
minutes on the clock a great pass from Tina, and Kirsty shot for goal the
keeper fumbled the save and the ball rolled into the back on the net. The next
twenty minutes saw some good plays the ball just couldn’t get pass their
keeper. 33 minutes and Hamble scored the equaliser. End of the first half 1 – 1. The second half Hamble’s goalie was on the ball. We tried but were unable to get the ball passed her. Nine minutes in and Hamble took the lead with a lucky goal. Followed closely by a good run from Chelsea a great shot but not to be, very near miss. In the 20th minute we thought we had equalised with a goal from Kirsty, as the cheer went up so did the whistle ‘off side’ was ruled. The girls battled on but 30 minutes into the second half Hamble put another in the net. In the dying minutes of the game a free kick awarded to Chelsea for yet another foul, was taken by Kat. She shot for the goal and with a knock from Demi’s head it went home. Good shot. Final score 2 – 3 A good game marred by the behaviour of some of their players, one yellow card issue to Hamble. The third game of the season. We knew this game was going to be hard and we weren’t wrong. Previously a Div 2 team we knew we had a battle on our hands. With Lindford kicking off, they had control very quickly within 4 minutes their first goal in the top of the net. This was followed by some good runs from Denmead Belles but Lindford finding a weakness popped another two goals in the top left corner, Natalie put up a good fight but was just not quite tall enough! 29 minutes down and the Belles were giving Lindford a run for their money, Ruth managed to find space in a hectic goal area a boot in the right place and we scored! Lindford seem to loose their momentum and the Belles fought back but after several attempts from both team the goalies were doing their job well. End of the first half 3 – 1. With new signing Chelsea replacing Jade on the pitch the line up changed. A scuffle in the goal resulted in an own goal slipping in with10 minutes on the clock. Not to be put off the girls battles on with some great runs forward from Kirsty and Demi and back from Tina, Shannon and Chelsea. Kat replaced Natalie in goal to give her a break from the on slaughter that seem to be occurring. With 20 minutes on the clock the score stood at 8 – 1 the next 22 minutes saw the ball ricochet from one end to the other, Lindford were under pressure once again and they didn’t like it. With 5 minutes extra time given due to the time wasted collecting the ball from the undergrowth Lindford changed their positions and scored a succession of 5 goals. Final score 13 – 1. Our second game of the season saw us kicking
off from our home ground at Horndean. We were expecting a hard game and weren't
disappointed, one goal down in the first 4 minutes. Fleet had plenty of
attempts but with a stong defence the Belles kept them at bay finishing the
first half 2 - 0 down. We started the second half on the ball. Several oppotunities arose with good runs by our midfield players and some great crosses to our strikers. Fleet broke away and scored a 3rd, 13 minutes into the second half. A good fight persued but we were unable to hold them off, the 4th and 5th goals scored within 28 minutes. Well done to you all. Thank you to all the parents who helped set up the pitch and to Tony for running the line. The first game of the season and the first as a
team! The start of the season saw us kicking off 50 miles from home, we came to enjoy a good first game and I feel we succeeded. We held off Twynham for the first 16-minute of the game, some good passes and great defence. By the 20th minute we were 2 goals down, not for long by the 23rd minute the score was 2 all, what a game! The girls were playing hard but as time passed their fitness levels were starting to show. By the 45th minute they were ready for the break. All refuelled the second half began faster than the first, some lucky shots from Twynham put them in the lead, a lead we were unable to break the final score 10 – 2 did not reflect the play. This was our first run out as an 11 a side team
against a team who are in Div 3! With the great support of the parents we had an enjoyable game and all the girls learnt a tremendous amount. Unsure of the off side rule we were only caught out a couple of times and as the game moved forward the girls realised they could use this rule to their advantage. Big thank you to all the players, ‘coaches’ and linesmen (Scott and Julia) and last but not least Phil, John and the Hayling team! |
